TCCR: Certificate in Psychosexual Studies: Understanding the Sexual Relationship (CT3B)

September 2013 to March 2014,

(Two terms of 4 Saturdays)

The course will:
  • Provide valuable input on the nature of the sexual relationship
  • Help you develop greater understanding of psychosexual dysfunctions
  • Introduce assessment, classification and formulation skills
  • Provide an introduction to behavioural work
  • Increase confidence in addressing sexual difficulties in a sensitive manner
 Components and structure:
  • An introduction to key concepts of psychodynamic couple therapy
  • Case discussion groups offer an opportunity to discuss your work and apply the new learning to your work setting
  • Tutorials
  • Optional 3,000 word essay (Those not wishing to complete the essay may be able to gain a certificate of attendance)
  • Topics include psychosexual assessment, the couple relationship psychosexual development, intimacy, desire and arousal, the causes of sexual, dysfunction, the impact of infertility, sexual abuse and internet addiction

Marian O’Connor is a Senior Psychosexual Therapist and Psychodynamic Couple Therapist. She is a staff member of TCCR responsible for the MSc in Psychosexual Therapy
